Final Outing for NWTC at Carlingford Triathlon

James Beattie showed his steady improvements throughout the season by finishing in a personal best time of 2.15.32 while Mickey McBride and Aoife Logan also clocked pbs coming home in 2.20.35 and 2.31.31 respectively. 

The previous weekend both Quigley and O’Brien made the trip south for the Dublin City Triathlon where Quigley clocked a super quick time of 1.57.35 taking 3rd place in his age group.  O’Brien finished in 2.12.10 putting her into 3rd place in the women’s race and 1st in her age group.  Frank Roche also had a good race to finish in a time of 2.29.08 while Noel Lynch stopped the clock in 2.53.55.

Aileen Morrison continued a successful debut season racing at International level with a 3rd place finish in Split, Croatia at the weekend.  Aileen stormed home in a time of 2hrs 7mins 46secs at the Continental Cup event.  This saw Morrison improving on her previous race in Egirdir, Turkey in which she came 7th in a time of 2.09.08.

Meanwhile Patrick McLaughlin completed the Boston Half Ironman recently and his preparations are going well as he will soon compete in Ironman UK.  Garry O’Donnell is also due to race the Half Ireman in Groomsport, Co. Down on the 13th September.  Sean McFadden is also due to compete in the World Duathlon Championships this month in Italy.  Sean has been training hard in preparation for this and the club wish him all the best. This Saturday a number of NWTC members are also taking a break from the usual swim, bike and run to concentrate solely on swimming as they take up the challenge of swimming across Lough Swilly from Rathmullan Pier to Buncrana Pier.  Good luck to all!
