Connemara Triathlon

The bad weather that dominated the previous week eased off, and allowed athletes to pack their sun cream instead of their winter rain jackets.

The water of the Galway bay was calm this year for a change, allowed the athletes to conserve some of their energy for the technical bike course and hilly run ahead of them. Despite crashing on the bike course Colm Quigley still managed to finish in 2nd position overall in a time of 2hrs 15mins 51secs.
Frank Roche was the next Northwest athlete home in a time of 2hrs 57 mins 55.

Aileen Morrison experienced a lot of mechanical problems with her bike during the race but still soldiered on to finish in 3hrs 4mins 13secs. Trisha Jordan from Letterkenny raced home in 3hrs 15mins 57secs. Aoife Logan, in her first race over the distance had a good race to finish in 3hrs 18mins 42secs. Liza Jane Jorque had a finished in 4hrs 4mins 16secs.
