Aileen Morrison wins Irish Triathlon Championships

Colm Quigley showed no ill-effects from his recent hamstring injury as he finished in 20th position overall, taking the silver medal in the 35-39 category in a time of 2:05:17. Jarlath Fearon took 3rd place in the 40-44 category with his personal best time of 2:19:13. Paul Mc Connellogue was also in personal best form with his 2:21:26 time which was good enough for 4th in his age group. Micky Kerr and Frankie Dunlop just missed out on podium spots in the 45-49 age group as they finished in 4th and 5th spots respectively with their times of 2:22:04 and 2:26:15. “Ol Han” Frankie however reckons that he could’ve challenged for a podium spot, only a slap on the arse from a flying Carn man on the run knocked him off his stride and cost him minutes!! Patrick Mc Laughlin also set a new personal best time, finishing in 2:24:26. Fermanagh man Joe Mc Laughlin was happy with his finishing time of 2:45:41. Aoife Logan also had a consistent race stopping the clock in 2:51:18. James Harkin made a welcomed return to racing finishing comfortably under the 3 hour mark in 2:58:09.
